5 Modern Christmas Songs

With the holiday season upon us, I wanted to compile a list of 5 of my favorite modern Christmas songs. We all know and love the classics sung by Bing Crosby and Dean Martin, but I wanted to provide my readers with a list of modern songs to enjoy.

Some are original songs while others are remakes of some great classics.

Dave Matthews is known for his knack of storytelling. Every one of his songs tells a story. The Christmas Song is no exception. He is able to tell the story of Mary and Jospeh, Jesus and Mary Magdalene unlike anyone else.

A beautiful song that is full of love, love, love!

A modern and fun version of a classic Christmas song. The melodic voices of the Barenaked Ladies makes anyone want to sing along. Barenaked Ladies are known for their funky and fun songs. This song will keep your foot tapping.

Michael Buble is the Frank Sinatra of our time. This attractive crooner is a hit with the ladies because his voice is amazing and we would love to him him sing to us!

Buble had loved the way that Mariah Carey did this song. He wanted to add his own spin on it, which he has achived. Another great modern tune!

Last Christmas was released in 1984 by the group Wham!. The video is a bit dated of course, but the song remains a classic for 30 somethings. I wonder if back then, that the members of Wham! knew that this song would still be played in 2011?

I save the best for last. This would still be considered a "modern" song even though it was recorded 27 years ago. It still rings true today. Band Aid was formed by Bob Geldof to help raise awareness and money for famine victims in Africa and Ethopia.

We still need to help feed the world - Let them know it is Christmas time!
