A Bad Day - Meniere's Disease
80
I am a Dizzy Dame
My day starts out just like any other. I wake up, grab a Diet Coke and check my email. I don't have to get ready to go to work because I don't have a job. I thank my Meniere's Disease for this. After the emails are read, I scour multiple work at home sites with the hope of finding a new lead. Then I check my bank account, hoping that somehow someone has deposited some money in there. The mortgage is late and the medical bills are piling up. No job = No insurance.
After I realize that I am still broke, I get to work on the few sites I am able to make a little money on. I start with my client that I am writing some articles for and then move on to another writing site and submit a couple of articles. Then I move on to the last job which is nothing but data entry. I have to do this last because after I am done, I know I will be down for the count for the rest of the day. After an hour of typing, I get a throbbing headache and I get so dizzy I often vomit. I try to walk and look like a drunk leaving a bar at 2am. Then I have to take my two "Dizzy" pills to help me feel better. About an hour later, I am passed out on my couch.
After I wake up, I take care of the household chores. Laundry, dishes, vacuuming; all of the fun stuff. As I do this, I must take a break about every 15 minutes or the dizziness comes on and is overbearing. I know my limits and try to uphold them.
When it comes to my online work, I have to do this in order to eat. The little money I make goes towards food, gas or a small bill. I am thankful to be able to do that. However, it is not close to what I used to make.
I am not eligible for unemployment, because I am unable to look for work. I am not eligible for disability benefits because I am not sick enough. I do not qualify for any state benefits because my husband makes too much money ; which is less than half of what I made at my previous job. We are lucky to make a car payment with his paycheck.
The purpose of this hub is not to have a pity party for me, but to educate about Meniere's Disease and how it effects the people who have been diagnosed with it. It is a disease that many have never heard of, but it is out there and is a horrible disease.

Hi aemillervb
Great article, like you I also want to get the word out there about this disease. The ignorance surrounding it is truly global.
Incidentally, that picture you posted at the top of the page of the iPad case is actually my handwriting, I did that on Zazzle ;)
